Architecture and design firm AHL has added Experiential Graphic Design to its menu of services and named Crystal Gray as Creative Services Director. The role is a multidisciplinary function that enhances the built environment through a full spectrum of graphic design services.

“We’ve found that our clients appreciate a holistic vision when communicating their culture, values, and purpose,” said AHL President and Chief Executive Officer Bettina Mehnert. “Our newly added Experiential Graphic Design services present exciting opportunities for brand expression in any environment people gather. Together, our team is positioned to deliver integrated design solutions that translate big ideas into memorable moments.”

Gray was trained as a multidisciplinary designer and has more than 10 years of experience in brand management. Through visual storytelling, she excels in creating experiences that connect people to places. She is a graduate of Cleveland Institute of Design where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Prior to moving to Honolulu, Gray was a brand manager at RDL Architects in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Previously an adjunct faculty member teaching interior design majors, she also founded Gray Sea Studio, which focused on elevating small businesses through reimagined brand identity and positioning.

Experiential Graphic Design embraces multiple disciplines, seamlessly blending with architecture, interiors, and landscape to enhance user experience in the built environment. Color, texture, typography, imagery and form combine to create a layered experience that is integral to placemaking. Through effective signage and wayfinding, supergraphics, art installations, and strategic use of color, we enable brand expression. The visual translation of ideas build trust and emotional connection with brands.
