Island Insurance has appointed Kevin Shimamura as its Accounting & Finance Controller. In this role, he will direct and manage the financial activities of Hawaii’s only locally owned property and casualty insurance carrier.

Kevin has over two decades of financial experience in a career that has taken him from public accounting to product strategy and analytics. Most recently, he served as Vice President and Senior Manager of Account Analysis at Bank of Hawaii, overseeing the billing operations for all treasury management services. Other previous positions include Senior Manager of Retail Deposits & Analytics at Bank of Hawaii and Senior Audit Associate at KPMG.

Kevin is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Hawaii. A committed volunteer, he served on the Alliance Board for the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree at the University of Washington in Seattle and is a graduate of Iolani School.
