Derek Wong is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of University Health Partners of Hawaii (UHP), the faculty practice of the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). 

Before being named CEO in December of 2021, Derek oversaw the revenue cycle and health information management office where he led a team of 30+ billing staff. Responsible for the appropriate coding and submission of approximately $43 million in annual health billing charges and $20 million in payments, Derek served as the primary liaison with different insurance companies for UHP.  He also oversaw the implementation of the EPIC practice management/billing across UHP’s various clinics.

Derek is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC®), Certified Obstetrics Gynecology Coder (COBGC®),  AAPC and holds a Master of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare. He was a FISH Scholar and member of the Beta Gamma Sigma.
