WATCH: Ka Leo Celebrates 100 Years

UH Mānoa's student newspaper celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2022. Former writers and editors include a U.S. senator, congressman, head of the East-West Center and many of Hawai‘i’s well-known journalists.

 

Launched on Sept. 13, 1922, the student newspaper at UH Mānoa was called “The Hawaii Mirror” before changing its name to “Ka Leo O Hawai‘i” nine issues later.

Former Ka Leo and UH Mānoa alumni reminisce about their time at the newspaper and share why it serves as an important outlet for students.
